Light-emitting diode (LED) is a light emitting semiconductor electronic components. NASA commenced to apply the device in biology and used these to stimulate plant growth in space as early as in 1950s. Subsequently, NASA conducted research on the LEDs, the LEDs were able to penetrate light into human skin tissue to promote wound healing and tissue growth. As a result of this startling discovery caused the attention of the medical profession on the LEDs, by the LEDs magic to the treatment of many clinical medicines with skin tissue disease or for auxiliary purposes. A number of studies and experiments on the LEDs by the medical profession, it is confirmed that the LEDs can be effective in widely used on different medical perspective.

The study found that the LEDs stimulate fibroblast collagen deposition and reduce the protease MMP-1. The cellular metabolism is believed to up regulate by the stimulation of mitochondrial. These molecular events are relevant to photo-aging and wound healing. LEDs also effect on the treatment of acne and anti-inflammatory.
